The newer obsession

Thomas the Train is sooo yesterday. Today's newest fad?

Legos. Legos. Legos. All I hear about day and night are Legos.

"Mom, let's pretend my Play-Doh is Legos."
"Mom, when can I get some new Legos?
"Mom, let's look at Lego magazines." (the instruction manuals that came with his cousin's old Legos)
"Mom, my army guys are going to be Lego guys."
"Mom, I don't want to go potty to get some new Legos."
"Mom, can we go to the store and look at the Legos?"
"Mom, let's watch Star Wars Lego movies on the computer."
And my favorite, in his little sad whine..."Mom, I'm the only boy who doesn't have any Legos."

So, move on over Thomas, now there's something smaller that his brothers can choke on!

Man... I'm feeling old.

So yesterday, August 24th, I officially became a part of the GRANDPARENT generation! I'm a GREAT AUNT! Crazy, isn't it? Me... at the ripe, young age of 21! (or somewhere around there...) My oldest brother, Kerry, and his wife Wendy became grandparents! My nephew Kris became the proud papa to baby Kameron Kristopher.

Congratulations to Kris and Jen on their new arrival. And congrats to Kerry and Wendy on becoming very proud grandparents. Here's a picture of the little guy with his adoring grandma:

7lbs 1oz, 18.5 inches, born two weeks early. Can't wait to meet the little guy

Who knew?

I asked Alex to write an "A" this morning as he was scribbling on some paper. Well... he did it! Just like that. I'd never really thought to teach him how to write his name. I figured he had plenty of time to do that. I guess I should try to show him more things, because he's obviously capable. So, here's my little boy's name, written all by himself. How'd he get all grown up on me? Darn him.

I must add a postscript. I know this isn't prodigy or anything. Just a surprise to me... that's all. :)

Tell ya what I want

Here's a cute little lip sync that my nieces did. Aren't they cute? Here is Candace's and Ali's big debut...

Happy 7th Anniversary

Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Haaaaappy Anniversary.

To the best husband EVER, I hope you have a very happy day. I for one will, because I'm blessed to have you in my life. A wife can't get much luckier. You truly are the best!

Dang... I'm good!

So, all of my efforts to teach my children are sinking in -- slowly but surely! The dialogue went something like this:

Me: "Alex, who loves all the boys in this house the very most?"

Alex: "You do, Mom!"

Me: "You're right! How did you know that?"

Alex: "Because I'm smart, just like my mom!"

Yah, baby... that's right. Just like your mom. At least something good is getting through. :)

RipStik

Have you heard of it? My niece was telling me about hers a few months back and then my nephew brought one over to the house. Now, I consider myself quite able to do things that take balance. I was the rollerblading queen! (keyword, "was.") So I thought I'd give this new fad a try. It doesn't look all that hard, now does it? Ha. I was never much of a skateboarder, but I could sort of do that. This thing is bloody hard! I couldn't even get going. After hanging on to my poor 11-yr-old nephew for dear life, I finally admitted defeat. I don't think the RipStik will be a part of that corner in the garage that's full of toys on wheels. Although... now that I've admitted defeat in writing, I've ignited a little spark of determination. Maybe I won't give up on it just yet...

Dear Dad

Dear Dad,

We sure missed having you home last night. Mom is like a crotchety old lady this morning. She says all of the crying from her chick flick last night made her eyes extra swollen and puffy today. She told me that since I kept her awake from 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. (when Jackson woke up for the day) that she was especially tired. I couldn't help it, though, Dad. I was having nightmares all night. She said Jackson woke up a couple of times in the night too. She looks pretty bad, Dad. She keeps saying, "These bags...ugh...these bags." Is she talking about grocery bags? She reminds me of the zombies that we read about in our Scooby Doo book. She's just kind of walking around and saying things really quiet. Well, actually, that's only when she's not yelling at me for pushing my brothers in the head. (sorry, I can't help myself. their heads wobble so nicely and it's fun to watch them tip over.) Anyway, please come home soon. I think she's going a little crazy, and I really miss you. I know, Dad. Let's put her to bed early tonight, and you and I will watch Sharks on TV. Okay?

Love ya,

Alex

My budget is glad...

This site has some seriously cute stuff. I can't believe how many places are out there that I've never heard of. Once again, it reaffirms my gratitude that I don't have a girl. If I did, I'd be totally broke! I can't resist all those cute, girly clothes. I have no problem picking up a basic for the boys at Wal-Mart, poor chaps. The Man Upstairs must have known that I'd be a mom on a budget. Have fun browsing their stuff! And please resist buying a small girl a $45 shirt. Come on... let's have a little common sense!
